KYLE Chalmers, son of four-time Port Adelaide premiership hero Brett, will compete for a place in the Australian swim team on Monday night.

The world's fastest teenager, Chalmers won gold in the 50m and 100m categories at the world junior swimming championships last year and competes for his plane ticket to Rio against some of the biggest names in the pool, including Cameron McEvoy and James Magnussen.

A massive Port Adelaide fan, Chalmers's dad Brett played in four flags for Port Adelaide in the SANFL - 1992, 1994, 1998 as well as 25 AFL games for the club.

The 100m men's swimming finals will be broadcast on Channel 7 on Monday night across Australia.
