"The result was really disappointing. When you let Thompson and Dangerfield get so many clearances, that shows we weren’t able to stop them. First possessions were well in their favour, which shows they were getting their hands to the ball quicker and earlier, and then we just weren’t able to shut them down from there. They were able to get plenty of inside 50s and score quite comfortably in the end.

It’s a tough one when you lose like that - when you know you can play that kind of footy. That last quarter we were 30 points down and we came back to three points. If we were able to sustain that for four quarters it would have become a pretty strong performance, but we’re just lacking that consistency and that’s been a factor all year."

"Early in the game we didn’t handle the pressure as well as we’d have liked. When you have a start like that it makes it hard to get a comeback, we did our best in the second half but we can’t afford to start like that.

We never gave up, and we can be proud of that. But you can’t be relying on a big comeback like that, because you eventually run out of time...and we did.

The disappointing thing all year is that we haven’t really ticked off a four-quarter game. We came into today really wanting to do that and once again we couldn’t play that out, so that’s the challenge for us going forward, and that’s what we’ll be working on for the rest of the year."
