The Port Adelaide Football Club wishes to clarify a statement that it made in its media release announcing EnergyAustralia’s joint major partnership with the club on Friday.

Amidst the excitement of welcoming a new national brand to our football club the release stated that the new partnership with EnergyAustralia, in conjunction with the existing partnership with Renault, would see two major national brands on the club’s AFL guernsey for the first time.

This is incorrect. Vodafone, an international telecommunications company, and Scott’s Transport, a national transport and logistics organisation, were both joint major partners of the club from 1997 to 2007.

Port Adelaide is eternally grateful for the support of both Vodafone and Scott’s Transport over this ten year period.

They both helped establish the club in its inaugural year in the AFL competition and played a huge role in setting up the foundations of success in the early 2000s which led to premiership glory in 2004.

In particular, the club thanks the late Allan Scott for his generous assistance. Scott, a club Life Member, is the largest financial contributor in Port Adelaide’s history. His generous donation facilitated the construction of the Allan Scott Power Headquarters, the state-of-the-art training and administration centre in use at Alberton Oval today.
