SUSTAINABILITY is central to any successful football program, and Port Adelaide chairman David Koch has flagged the Power will continue building its commercial revenue streams to ensure it.

The Power has doubled its commercial revenue on 2014 levels following this week’s announcements of RAA and Four’N Twenty as premier partners for the upcoming season, on the back of a recently brokered deal with OAK Milk through parent company Parmalat.

That income stream is now at record high levels for Port Adelaide.

“The sustainability of the club and for us to keep investing in football, it’s important for us to get the commercial side right,” Koch said at Friday’s Four’N Twenty partnership launch at Light's Vision.

“That’s been the thing that’s been lagging for the last couple of years.”

Along with alternative revenue streams such as the club’s successful ‘pay-per-win’ Premiership Fund as well as another record-high membership figure, Port Adelaide is positioning itself for an unprecedented investment in its football department.

That, Koch says, is borne of the Power’s objective to match the big league clubs in funding elite football development and retaining high-quality personnel.

Being ranked in the bottom quartile of football department spend for some time, Port Adelaide is poised to see a marked jump in footy investment.

“We’re entering a period of opportunity for our team, they need to be resourced properly and we need to be a club that resources them so they can reach their potential,” Koch said.

“Two years ago we were number 15 in terms of football department spend, this year I think we will be eight-to-sixth.

“It’s been a couple of years where we’ve said we need to get the right people and we’ve got to get the right resources.”

Ken Hinkley blotted a new contract keeping him tied to the Power until the end of 2018, while other key personnel including Michael Voss, Shaun Hart, Darren Burgess, national recruiting manager Geoff Parker and list manager Jason Cripps have also committed to the club.
