PORT Adelaide will take on an in-form Geelong side this Friday under lights in an important clash at Adelaide Oval. Portadelaide.com.au takes a look at who’s in the mix to hit the field for both teams.

Port Adelaide
While the Power was hopeful key talls Paddy Ryder and Jackson Trengove would be recovered for Friday’s clash with the Cats, Ken Hinkley has ruled both players out for Round 11 due to respective Achilles and ankle injuries.

Young defender Tom Clurey impressed in his third AFL game against the Dogs last week, keeping big-bodied forward Stewart Crameri to just one goal. With Trengove a confired out, he’ll certainly remain in the mix for an AFL recall this week.

We may see one of Port Adelaide’s SANFL players step up to replace Karl Amon, who has reported calf soreness following last week’s clash.

"Karl Amon's got a sore calf, so if he doesn't get through training this morning, he potentially is an out, and we'll bring in one of the other boys - Moore, Ah Chee, Colquhoun, Mitchell - who we'll consider this morning," Hinkley said on Thursday.

Brendon Ah Chee performed brilliantly in the SANFL, producing four quarters of contested footy which earned him the Peter Jackson Player of the Week. After spending three games in the top side earlier in the season, he’ll be pushing for another shot.

Geelong
Off the back of a landslide 69-point win, coach Chris Scott may decide to make few changes to the strong side which overcame Essendon at the weekend.

However there could be welcome relief for the club’s heavy injury list, with five injured players likely to return and be available to play this week. The Cats could have the luxury of several options to bolster their Round 11 team when they come up against the Power on Friday night.

Key talls Rhys Stanley and Mitch Clark are in with a chance to play this week as they recover from respective corked thigh and calf issues. Stanley was a late withdrawal last week but Scott said on Tuesday it’s “likely” he’ll play against the Power.

However if Stanley misses his chance this week, we could see his debutant stand in from last week, Michael Luxford, return to the side again. Luxford started as sub against the Bombers, hitting the field twice with five disposals from 18 per cent game-time.

The Cats’ medical team have also flagged midfielder George Horlin-Smith as a possible return for this week if he overcomes a hyperextended knee. He had a polished performance in the VFL last week and is pushing for an AFL appearance.

Another Cat in the mix for Friday night’s game is emerging defender Jake Kolodjashnij. According to geelongcats.com.au he was among the best players in last week’s disappointing VFL loss. He’ll also be pushing for a top-side selection in Round 11.
