IF anyone wants to celebrate the contract extension of the first bloke to do the John Cahill Medal and All-Australian double in consecutive years, we've found the perfect nostalgic throwback.

Robbie Gray signed a new deal tying him to the Power until at least the end of season 2019, and if ever there was a ridiculously disproportionate celebration for a one-year deal, it would surely be renaming - or reverting - part of Port Adelaide to an incredibly apt title.

Now, we're pretty sure Robbie Gray wants nothing to do with this proposal - ever the team man, he'd be shaking his head in disgust at the very idea.

But humour us for wanting to reflect the approval of portadelaidefc.com.au readers at the loyalty shown by Gray and club skipper Travis Boak this week.

Gray Town, the thirties

Back in the 1930s, the south-eastern section of the Port was named 'Gray Town'.

That section appears to be the part of Port Adelaide north of Grand Junction Road, and east of Commercial Road and Lipson Street.

Surely after the steller two years he's had, it isn't much to rename part of the Port to celebrate his loyalty to Port Adelaide?

Even if it's just for a day...
