PORT ADELAIDE is on track to smash through the 40,000-member barrier at its annual Family Day at Alberton Oval on Saturday afternoon.

With gates opening at 3:30pm and the with combined Power and Magpies sides on field from 4:30pm for an internal trial, the club has a jam-packed day planned for its members and supporters.

For a gold coin entry fee, supporters will not only be treated to the huge internal trial, but heaps of entertainment for the kids with face painting, balloon making, player autograph sessions and its indoor training facility cool area with footy games and activities.

The day will also feature a continuous membership tally counter on the iconic Alberton Oval scoreboard as the club counts towards the significant 40,000-member milestone.

Last year the club signed up over 500 members on Family Day and with Friday’s membership total sitting at 39,706, it looks set to click over its next milestone early in the day.

To celebrate the achievement, the club will give away a signed team guernsey to the lucky 40,000th member on the day.

The club will also give away a signed guernsey to one random member in attendance on the day.

The club’s general manager of member services Matthew Richardson says the club is excitedly anticipating signing up its 40,000th member on Saturday.

“Our supporters have been turning themselves into members in droves since the start of our membership campaign and the feedback we’re getting from them points to their excitement for footy for 2014 and our return to the Adelaide Oval as why,” explains Richardson.

“They don’t want to miss our return to the Adelaide Oval which is going to start with that huge first Showdown on March 29.

“The only way to be in the running for a signed guernsey on Saturday is to be a member of the club, and the only way to guarantee your place at the Adelaide Oval for that first game is by having an 11-game reserved seat or Essential Power membership.

“So why not put yourself in the best seat for both and sign up at Family Day?”

Port Adelaide will operate membership booths inside The Port Club and adjacent to Allan Scott Power Headquarters.
