JUDGING on previous rolled ankles to Travis Boak, Angus Monfries and Jared Polec, it would appear unlikely Hamish Hartlett will be cleared to play the Bulldogs next Saturday.

But the midfielder will still be monitored at training this week to give him the best possible chance of fronting the Bulldogs on Saturday.

Hartlett was substituted in the third quarter of Port Adelaide’s four-point loss to Sydney on Saturday afternoon.

He was aided from the ground after rolling his ankle in the first term, but did manage to return to the game to assist in the Power’s mid-game fightback against the Swans.

Senior coach Ken Hinkley lamented Port Adelaide’s rotten luck with ankle injuries to its midfielders over the past month, with Hartlett now the fourth such from general play in as many weeks.

“We just have an ability to roll ankles,” Hinkley said after the game.

“From what I’ve seen in the past, it [the injury] would suggest he probably won’t play next week.

“I’m not going to say he’s going to be definitely out, I’ll give him a chance to come up.

“But from what I’ve seen in the last month, he’ll miss.”

Fortunately the club’s form with recovery from ankle problems could mean Jared Polec will return against the Bulldogs, given skipper Travis Boak missed just the one match with a similar problem.

portadelaidefc.com.au will have a comprehensive injury update on Monday.
