Garry Hocking reviews the form of the club's League players after a thumping win over the Tigers...

Player of the Week

Kane Mitchell
Mitch had an outstanding game with a good mix of winning the inside and outside ball. He also put his head over the footy and won his own ball, which is an area he is really focusing on. The run he gives us and his ability to get to contest after contest was huge.

Player reviews

Ben Newton
His first possession work winning seven clearances was very good and I was impressed with his cleanliness and the way he tested the tackle. Ben finished with 10 marks, five shots on goal and was real classy when he got involved in our ball movement.

Andrew Moore
Moorey had six clearances in his first game back and impacted around stoppage, however I’d like to see him being consistently aggressive around the stoppages to win first possession. Like Newts he worked hard to spread outside and get involved in our offence.

Brent Renouf
Renouf had a big step forward with his four-quarter effort. His ruck work continually gave us first use and put the ball where we wanted it. He didn’t get out-marked and competed all day. This is something we want to see.

Karl Amon
Unfortunately Karl injured his ankle during the game and aside from his outstanding mark and goal, he wasn’t able to impact for us. He’ll be assessed during the week and we’ll have a clearer picture of where he’s at after that.

Mitch Harvey

Harvs made the most of his opportunities to mark the ball and convert inside 50. He finished with five marks and three goals after presenting and moving better up forward, but he’s still a work in progress for us as we look to make him into a big marking forward.

Brendon Ah Chee
Arch played a role on Jolly and kept him quiet all day across both half forward and half back. He kicked two goals himself in a really improved performance. Good stuff Arch!

Cam Hitchcock
Hitchy played in a number of positions forward of centre, had a good spread of disposals and was classy inside attacking 50. He kicked five goals and was generally competitive. We’d like to see him keep working hard in this area.

Jake Neade

A really good game from Jake, he got his mojo back with some aggression and pressure in the forward half. He looked more confident with the ball in his hands and assisted with quite a few goals. Good to see him hit some form.

Paul Stewart
Stewy had 28 disposals in a really comprehensive performance. His form was good across 4 qtrs and he put the pressure on and hit targets really well. He’s getting closer to his best and this was a very good performance to put him on the radar for AFL selection.

John Butcher
Butch was a bit out of sorts in the first half but going after half time with five goals — especially a big one from outside 50. He was also good at ground level which is something we have been keen for him to improve, but we would still like a few more marks in the forward 50.

Tom Logan
Tommy had another good performance on the opposition smalls. Not much else needs be said about his game, he’s really been in great, consistent form for us week after week. Can’t ask much more of him.

Darcy Byrne-Jones
Darcy had a few different roles and was generally good playing on his opponents down back. His confidence continues to grow when he has the footy and is really learning his craft back in defence, has good understanding of when to attack and run and when to defend.

Tom Clurey

Good ball use and decision-making when rebounding from defensive 50 and better positioning on his opponent made for a good game for Tommy. He is working hard to defend his direct opponent better and had a good tussle with Alleway and Thorpe. He pushed forward late in the game to kick a fantastic running goal on the left. Continues to improve every week.

Sam Colquhoun
Sam was pretty good again with better disposal efficiency from defence, read the ball well and came off his opponent at the right time to mark and spoil the ball. With 32 touches, four inside 50s and four rebound 50s, Sam should gain confidence from this and use this as a benchmark game.

Steven Summerton
An outstanding performance. Summo was very consistent over four quarters both offensively and defensively. His work around stoppage as very clean as well. He really leads by example.

Henry Slattery
Played across half forward. Slatts was in and out of the game a little bit, but he had good tackle and chase and provided his great leadership with voice and direction as wel.

Ben Haren
Ben played at both ends of the ground and provided versatility and flexibility in his game. He continues to improve his game week to week and is growing in confidence from that - it's very pleasing to see.

Anthony Biemans
Biemans played on-ball and did a good job there, then went down back. He's another who's shown to be a good player who looks capable at this level. He was very good defensively as well and was an important player for us.

Angus Bruggemann
I thought he had a very good game on Alleway - it was a strong matchup. His consistency has been a real positive for us for a few weeks and he really works hard to get involved in our offence. He works well for us at both ends of the ground and along with Haren provides really good support in the ruck for Renouf.

Louis Sharrad
Unfortunately Louis was injured midway through the game. He started down back but he wasn't able get going after doing the ankle.
