After recent tests Williams was diagnosed with Lymphoma on the weekend.

Port Adelaide chief executive Keith Thomas says the Port Adelaide community has been moved by Williams’ diagnosis.

“Since it became known on Sunday night that Choco was unwell the concern from the Port Adelaide community has been overwhelming,” Mr Thomas said.

“We’ve been contacted by supporters, past players, staff, volunteers and coterie members who have been keen to pass on their messages of support to Choco and his family.

“To make the process more streamlined the club has set up a dedicated page on the club website whereby the Port Adelaide community and football community in general can leave their messages of support.”

Williams played 111 games for Port Adelaide in the SANFL winning premierships in 1979, 1980, 1990 and 1992.

He coached Port Adelaide in the AFL in 274 games from 1999-2010 including the club’s first AFL premiership in 2004.
