The Power’s injured ruckman, Brent Renouf, has returned from a successful trip to Alice Springs and Tennant Creek with Power Community Ltd staff Paul Vandenbergh and Narelle Long.

The trio travelled to Tennant Creek to deliver the WillPOWER program to 60 students from the Barkly Region.

The visit coincided with other events in the region including the 2014 Skills, Employment and Careers Expo and the Desert Harmony Festival.

The focus of these activities is to encourage young people to commit to their education and to explore opportunities that may lead to a career in a range of industries including sport, music, visual arts, theatre, food, film and dance.

Alice Springs also hosted the Skills, Employment and Career Expo and the Power trio were able to re-connect with students from Clontarf and promote career opportunities in Central Australia.

While Brent would prefer to be playing football at this time of year he enjoys the trips and has been a regular visitor to remote communities in South Australia and the Northern Territory.

The Port Adelaide Football Club and Power Community Ltd have created a Central Corridor Strategy, which includes multiple visits to Alice Springs and Tennant Creek.

Organisations supporting the strategy include Scriven Exploration, Group Training NT, Barkly Regional Council, Anyinginyi Health Aboriginal Corporation, Elliot Local Board, Elliot Store and the Tennant and District Times.
