Dear Members and Supporters,

We've got some very exciting news just around the corner which I'm sure you'll enjoy reading about. Make sure you stay tuned to portadelaidefc.com.au to keep up to speed!

But I am writing to you today with a very important message and a request for help.

It is not for our club this time, but on behalf a cause Port Adelaide is committed to and one you can join us in supporting through a modest contribution.

Of all the achievements of the Port Adelaide Football Club during 2013, one has perhaps not received the attention it should have.

I speak of our very significant Power to End Hunger partnership with Foodbank SA – an organisation taking a leading role in tackling the still rising issue of hunger in our community. Here are just some of the testimonials from members of the Foodbank network:

“The hampers made a huge difference to the people we deliver to. Their faces light up, they love to see the goodies and they love that someone cares for them. This is the best Christmas present to give and to get.” - Rotary, Tailem Bend

"The hampers were truly wonderful - a blessing for those less advantaged!" - Uniting Communities, Adelaide East

We proudly pioneered this relationship in 2012 by taking a league-leading role in contributing to our community and those less fortunate than most of us.

Over the past two seasons, we have taken the End Hunger message to the national sporting stage, raising awareness and financial support to help combat a problem that many find hard to believe exists in the Australia in the 21st Century.

It is unfathomable to many that 150,000 South Australians go hungry every year. For many, it is a daily struggle as their diminishing means fails to put enough food on the family table.

Foodbank’s mission is to provide healthy, heavily-subsidised food to 750 welfare agencies and charities that support the hungry.

Sadly, the demand has never been greater.

As most of us look forward to Christmas and the New Year, too many people can’t see where their next meal is coming from.

You can help by donating $45 to Foodbank that will purchase a Christmas hamper to be distributed to someone in need, usually a family with children.

Through its network of generous suppliers, Foodbank can transform your $45 into a hamper of essential food items with a retail value of at least $110.

This Christmas, Foodbank is aiming to pack 10,000 hampers to help an estimated 25,000 people – more than half are children.

Every cent you contribute will go to Foodbank, so please consider doing your bit.

You really do have the Power to End Hunger this Christmas.

Not only will you be providing food, but you will also show that our people care.

Sign up to donate a Foodbank Hamper this Christmas by clicking here or call Foodbank on 8351 1136.

Thanks for taking the time to read this important message.

It means an awful lot to a lot of people.

Merry Christmas and a safe and happy New Year,

KT
