Children in Oak Valley are walking taller this week after receiving new footy boots from Power legends Gavin Wanganeen and Byron Pickett.

The 2004 Premiership players joined Power Community Ltd staff Paul Vandenbergh and Narelle Long on a recent trip to promote healthy lifestyles and positive decision making.

Power Community Ltd has a long term partnership with the Maralinga Lands and are regular visitors to Ceduna, Koonibba, Oak Valley and Yalata.

The partnership is funded by FAHCSIA, and for the first time Soles4Souls Australia supported the trip. Soles4Souls Australia were established to assist disadvantaged communities, and last year they collected and re-distributed 70,000 pairs of shoes.

Boxes of footwear were provided for the trip and distributed by the club legends. Football quickly became the focus for the day, supported by classroom sessions on physical activity, nutrition, oral health, anti-smoking and drug education.

Thank you to FAHCSIA, Soles4Souls Australia and the Oak Valley community – we are kicking goals together.
