HAMISH Hartlett has been cleared of wrongdoing in an incident involving Carlton captain Marc Murphy on the weekend.

He will be free to play against Geelong after confirmation he had no case to answer for the altercation in the third quarter of Port Adelaide's 18-point loss on Sunday.

The AFL Match Review Panel found the force used by Hartlett in the incident was below that required to constititute a report.

The MRP took no further action from the review, saying Hartlett had been penalised at the time when the officiating field umpire awarded a free kick against him.

A statement from the AFL said:

"Contact between Port Adelaide’s Hamish Hartlett and Carlton’s Marc Murphy from the third quarter of Sunday’s match was assessed.

A free kick was paid at the time for the prohibited contact to the Carlton player.

After viewing all available footage and receiving a medical report from the Carlton Football Club, it was the view of the panel the force used was below that required to constitute a reportable offence.

No further action was taken."
