2012 best year for Member satisfaction The Port Adelaide Football Club has recorded its best year of member satisfaction since it started using the AFL’s contracted research agency SHAPE to survey the club’s financial supporters.

The report prepared in November shows season 2012 produced the best average score across a broad range member satisfaction areas.

Those areas include ratings on member packages, communications, service, game day offerings, match performance, club administration, personal involvement and expectations and likelihood to re-join the club in 2013.

Key findings from the 2012 survey include:
  • 63% of members renewed 2011 membership with 31% of new members re-joining the club.
  • 42% of members utilised PAFC Forever automatic renewal in 2012.
  • 63% of members held 11-game memberships; 19% 3-game memberships.
  • Four-year highs for ratings of membership arrangements, marketing and communications, home ground appeal, and likelihood to re-join.
  • Of the 93% of members highly likely to renew, 99% are likely to maintain or upgrade their level of support.

Three in four members said their expectations had been met or bettered throughout the course of the year.

Data showed that the club had improved its delivery of membership arrangements, opportunities for members to be involved in the club and service to members.

Satisfaction with the quality of on-field performance was improved on 2011 levels but still well down on previous years.

The club has addressed this by marking a significant investment in its football department with the appointment of a new senior coach, coaching and strategy director and high performance manager to reverse its on-field performances in 2013.

Half of surveyed members followed the club on Facebook and 1 in 5 did so on Twitter.

The club ranked higher than the national average in membership arrangements, service and communication satisfaction.

It comes after a period of significant development within Port Adelaide’s member engagement strategy.

With a philosophy to ‘connect with all our supporters with care and true Port Adelaide passion’, the club has worked over the last six months to develop a personal connection with its members and fans.

Uptake on 2013 season ticket packages has been up by 16% on last year as members look to capitalise on guaranteed or prioritised seating allocations at Adelaide Oval.

Over 93% of members surveyed said they were highly likely to renew their membership in 2013.

The club has also invested in new world-leading technologies to provide an exciting and cutting edge way for members to choose their seats at the Power’s new home ground at Adelaide Oval.

General manager of marketing and operations Matthew Richardson said while the result is positive, the club is determined to make 2013 even better for the Port Adelaide faithful.

“This result is pleasing but it is just a starting point for where we need to go in terms of the experience we provide our members and supporters,” said Mr Richardson.

“In 2014, our challenge is to bring an extra 10,000 plus people into our club and to our games at Adelaide Oval.

“In order to do that, we have to transform how we operate and how we connect with our members and supporters.

“Our aim is to transform the member experience, not from the moment our members arrive at Adelaide Oval in March 2014, but from the moment they transact with the club and lock in their seat for Round 1, 2014.

“It’s a very exciting time for our Club and ensuring our members have the best possible experience is our number 1 focus.”
