Joining Port Adelaide in the 2023 trade period from Geelong, Esava Ratugolea is a strongly-built swingman. Having spent the early stages of his AFL career playing in the forward half before shifting down back, the 27-year-old is an all-round talent who provides valuable versatility to Josh Carr's side.
Ratugolea’s athleticism and excellent read of the ball has made him an incredibly strong defender, averaging 3.3 intercept marks per game in 2025 - ranked 'elite' by Champion Data. He was awarded the Coaches' Award at the 2025 Best & Fairest, owing to his work ethic and team-first mentality.
