PORT ADELAIDE have completed a trade that will see Brendon Ah Chee return home to Western Australian to play with West Coast.

The deal sees Port Adelaide gain West Coast’s third round selection in the 2018 National Draft in exchange for Ah Chee and the future fourth Round selection (received as part of Jarman Impey’s trade to Hawthorn).

Port Adelaide List Manager Jason Cripps said the Eagles can offer Ah Chee greater on-field opportunity.

“Brendon is an outstanding young man and a talented footballer,” he said.

“Unfortunately he hasn’t been able to cement a spot in the senior side over his time at Alberton.

“He sees the move home to Perth with West Coast as something that can further his football development and he goes with our best wishes.”

Ah Chee said he’s excited by the challenge of joining a new club, but leaves Alberton with many fond memories.

“I’ve loved my time with Port Adelaide - I have met so many great people and developed friendships that I’ll cherish forever,” he said.

“I wish the club and the people there nothing but the best, but I need the opportunity to play AFL football and feel that’s more likely with West Coast.”

Ah Chee joined Port Adelaide with pick 45 in the 2011 National Draft. He made his AFL debut in Round 3, 2015, playing a total of 27 games in his six seasons at Alberton.

The 23-year-old nominated West Coast as his destination club early in the 2017 AFL Trade Period.
