Port Adelaide ruckman Jarrad Redden has undergone season-ending surgery today on his right hip to alleviate a problem that has been persistent throughout the season.

The club has taken the opportunity to operate on his hip now, given that he will also require surgery on his injured right shoulder in the next fortnight. Redden dislocated his shoulder in the last quarter of the Power’s Round 10 game against the Bulldogs in Darwin.

Port Adelaide high performance manager Darren Burgess explained the club’s decision.

“Reddo would have required hip surgery post-season anyway, so given that we have made the call for him to have shoulder surgery soon, it’s an opportunity to have his hip operated on now so that he is ready to resume pre-season training with the rest of the team,” Burgess said.

“Today’s surgery went well and after his imminent shoulder surgery we expect him to make a full recovery and be fit and ready for next season.”
