ROOKIE Sam Gray has recovered from a shoulder injury and will be available to play in one of Port Adelaide’s trial matches at Alberton this weekend.

The Magpies will play South Adelaide at Alberton on Saturday morning before the main stage show between the Power and Saints at lunchtime.

Gray is the only player to come off the injury list this week, with four players still in rehabilitation.

Jay Schulz suffered a foot sprain against the Bombers last Tuesday but is in the frame to return in time for Round 1 against Carlton at Etihad Stadium.

Defenders Jackson Trengove, Alipate Carlile and Campbell Heath are still between a week and fortnight from being fit to return.

It’s welcome news for Port Adelaide, which should welcome the return of its list to near-full health in the opening weeks of the home-and-away season.

“Throughout the last month we’ve taken the approach that no one would be rushed through rehab,” the club’s high performance manager Darren Burgess told portadelaidefc.com.au.

“Things are tracking well for the first game against Carlton.”

Port Adelaide’s trial games will take place on Saturday morning commencing at 9:45am for the Magpies and 12:30pm for the Power.

Tickets cost $10 for members and $15 for non-members. Children under-18 free.
