OLLIE Wines will have scans to determine the severity of a shoulder dislocation suffered in the opening quarter of Port Adelaide's 63-point win over the Saints on Sunday.

Wines left the ground early in the game, before returning to the match before quarter time with his shoulder strapped.

Again he was forced off the ground before the end of the term.

Ken Hinkley put his foot down when Wines tried to keep playing on after the first break.

"He wanted to go back out there [originally], and we put him back out there and the first or second time he got the ball, he actually went on to drop the ball, his shoulder let go again," Hinkley said after the game.

"He wanted to go back out there at quarter time and, to be honest, I took that decision away from him and said, 'that's not where we're at, that's not what we're about as a football club.'

"It's too big a price to pay to put Ollie Wines back out there."

Wines will be scanned early this week to determine what course of action will be required to rehabilitate the injury, although Hinkley was hopeful the decision to sub him from the game will give him an opportunity to return to the field by the end of the season.

However should there be any risk of re-injury, fans will be unlikely to see the third-year midfielder play again in 2015.

REPORT: Power wins big against Saints

Oddly, Justin Westhoff, Robbie Gray and Travis Boak all suffered pokes to the eye during the game, however all three will be available to play the Bulldogs at Etihad Stadium next Saturday.

So too will Matt White, who in his third game back was taken off the field for management following the severe hamstring injury he suffered in Round 11.

White returned from the injury against Essendon last week.

No other injuries were reported from the game, while the club's SANFL players were all passed fit from Saturday's win over Central District.
