PROMINENT Port Adelaide players Chad Wingard, Brendon Ah Chee and Jarman Impey are gearing up to coach at the 2015 Super Camp being held in Adelaide next week.
Port Adelaide’s Aboriginal community development coordinator Sasha de Kievit says the Super Camp is in its first year and hopes for 200 participants aged between 6-16 years old.
The camp is designed to teach football and basketball skills to children of all skill levels through drills and games that encourage physical activity and participation.
“It gives kids something to do in the community during school holidays through interacting with other kids, while also learning sporting skills and brushing shoulders with elite sports professionals,” de Kievit says.
De Kievit says it’s important for children to keep active in school holidays rather than being inside.
"The Super Camp encourages good healthy habits, increases social skills and allows kids to have fun whilst doing so.”
Adelaide 36ers basketball players, Mitch Creek and Jerome Randle will also join the Power players in inspiring young children to get moving.
Registration costs $80 and includes a reversible singlet, camp photo, certificate and super camp pack with other goodies including a towel, socks and drink bottle.
Participants will also get an opportunity to see their mentors in action by receiving a free child's ticket to an Adelaide 36ers and Port Adelaide home game.
Both boys and girls are welcome to attend with four groups broken down by age: under-10, under-12, under-14 and 14 and over.
The event is held on Thursday 17 December at Titanium Security Arena, the home of the Adelaide 36ers, from 9.00am.
