DAN HOUSTON, Matt White, Aaron Young and Peter Ladhams will all play for the Magpies in the SANFL this week.

They are all named in Port’s extended 23-man squad for the top-of-the-table clash against Woodville-West Torrens on Saturday at Alberton.

And unless injuries befall the squad before the game, Port will be forced to make two significant alterations to its makeup.

The first will be the omission of captain Steven Summerton, who under SANFL rules, can only be selected after all available AFL-listed players.

With Port Adelaide enjoying an almost perfectly healthy list, it means all Port Adelaide AFL players bar Nathan Krakouer (foot bruising) will play across the split AFL Round 8-SANFL Round 6.

Such is the state of Port’s list that the club has been granted special dispensation from the SANFL to play Emmanuel Irra in the Magpies reserves on Saturday.

“It’s a double-edged sword,” says Port Adelaide’s general manager of football Chris Davies.

“On the one hand, it’s incredibly good to have an AFL list in this state of health.

“But on the other, we’re obliged to play all of those players in-line with the league’s rules, unfortunately that means Summo and Emmanuel are the players to miss out.”

Port Adelaide plays Woodville-West Torrens at 2.10pm on Saturday 20 May at Alberton Oval. Reserves commence at 11.25am.
