PORT ADELAIDE will make history when they clash with Geelong at Hindmarsh Stadium in the inaugural match of AFLX on Thursday, February 15.

Port’s second game will be against Fremantle with plenty of other action for fans on and off the field in a jam-packed fixture throughout the night.

The 2018 AFLX Tournament is a great opportunity for Power members and supporters to see the team play its trademark fast, exciting football, as well as potentially see new recruits and draftees in action for the first time in Port colours.

Port Adelaide CEO Keith Thomas says the configuration of the ground and the modified AFLX rules tie in beautifully with Port Adelaide’s China strategy.

“We’ve got a real interest for it because of its potential application into China,” Mr Thomas told portadelaidefc.com.au

“Right now, most of the kids playing footy in China are actually playing on soccer pitches anyway.

“If we can take a game which is specifically designed for a ground that size already, it could help us grow the game over there more quickly.”

The first ever AFLX tournament will culminate with the winner of each pool playing-off in a Grand Final.

Pool A – Port Adelaide, Geelong, and Fremantle

Pool B – Adelaide, West Coast, and Collingwood

Melbourne and Sydney will also contain AFLX Tournaments, with Etihad Stadium playing host on Friday, February 16, and Allianz Stadium on Saturday, February 17.
