JASPER PITTARD is looking forward to his trademark explosive run returning to his game this season, after groin troubles hampered him throughout 2017.

Pittard played 17 out of a possible 23 games last year and reflected on the frustration he experienced as a result.

“It was a bit of a grind last year, to be honest,” Pittard said on Friday afternoon.

“I was able to play to a certain standard, but everything I was doing during the week was just maintaining the level, I couldn’t get the issue any better.

“I just lost a bit of the explosiveness in my movement last year, which was tough.”

The 26-year-old says he is back to full training now and believes his groin complaint is a thing of the past.

“I needed about 10 weeks off running this pre-season, and then a really gradual build-up until Christmas,” he said.

“I feel like I’m right on top of that and I can move a lot more freely now.

“As long as I keep on top of the physio work and my prehab stuff then I can’t see there being a problem.”

Pittard had 19 touches and 10 marks in Port Adelaide’s two-point loss to the Eagles in their JLT Community Series clash, and will look to build on that performance when Port face the Crows at Alberton Oval on Saturday, March 10.
