NEWLY re-signed defender Darcy Byrne-Jones and midfield general Brad Ebert polled highest of all of Port Adelaide’s players in the votes for the AFL Coaches Association Champion Player of the Year Award.

Byrne-Jones impressed in the Power’s 50-point win over Fremantle at Adelaide Oval on Saturday evening, picking up 28 disposals, three tackles and a game-high 10 clearances.

Ebert also racked up 28 touches to go with five marks and seven tackles.

Both were awarded eight of the maximum ten votes on offer by the AFLCA.

Utility Justin Westhoff was next best with five votes after tallying 11 one-percenters, nine tackles, nine marks and 25 disposals.

The oldest player on Port’s list also had had five hitouts after stepping into the ruck following an injury to Paddy Ryder.

Chad Wingard, Travis Boak, Riley Bonner and Ollie Wines also polled.

Patrick Cripps (Carlton), Lance Franklin (Sydney Swans), Tom Mitchell (Hawthorn) and Jack Steven (St Kilda) all received the maximum ten votes from the AFL coaches.
