KEN Hinkley has ruled out both Patrick Ryder and Jackson Trengove for Friday night’s game against Geelong at the Adelaide Oval.

The duo – who have both missed the Power’s recent wins over Melbourne and the Western Bulldogs – are recovering from respective Achilles and ankle injuries.

RED CROSS INJURY UPDATE: Round 10

Trengove was slated for a return in the next fortnight, with Ryder facing an assessment at training again this week, although won't not return until after the Power's bye in Round 13.

Hinkley confirmed Ryder would be held over for next week's game against Carlton as well, with a view to ensuring he hits the playing field risk-free.

"They [Ryder and Trengove] won't play," Hinkley said on Thursday.

"Every side has injuries and we don't always have our best players available.

"We'd love to have them in the side, but that's the footy season."

"Jacko... probably could have nearly played this week, but with the injury he's had, we wanted to err on the side of caution.

"There's no doubt we could have put Paddy on the park tomorrow night, but the long-term effect of  that might have been that we lose him for a bit of a long period later in the year."

Karl Amon will also be reviewed in Port Adelaide's final run on Thursday morning after reporting calf soreness, with a number of in-form SANFL players on standby to take his place if required.

"Karl Amon's got a sore calf, so if he doesn't get through training this morning, he potentially is an out, and we'll bring in one of the other boys - Moore, Ah Chee, Colquhoun, Mitchell - who we'll consider this morning," Hinkley said.

PETER JACKSON SANFL REPORT: Round 9

While Trengove and Ryder will sit out again this week, Dougal Howard will return from injury against West Adelaide in the SANFL in what will be his first game for Port Adelaide.
