JAY SCHULZ could return for Port Adelaide before the bye – or just after – if his recovery from a back injury continues along its current path.

It’s good news for the key position forward, who was previously marked as ‘indefinite’ on the Power’s injury list.

“It’s been a week-to-week thing for Schulzy, seeing how he responds to rehab and slowly getting him to where he needs to be,” Darren Burgess told portadelaidefc.com.au.

“We’re pretty comfortable with where he’s at and we hope to get him back before the bye, although just after is a more likely estimate.”

Matt White is similarly progressing well from a pectoral injury.

The running forward should return for the Power in just over a month.

As reported on Saturday, defender Jack Hombsch will be assessed at training this week after coming off the ground late in the Power's 45-point win over Melbourne with a tight hamstring.

Meantime Billy Frampton will make his return through the SANFL this week.

The ruckman has battled an ankle injury for several weeks but will bolster the Magpies’ stocks against Glenelg at Alberton on Saturday.

First-year players Cameron Hewett and Aidyn Johnson will be assessed at training this week.
