SAM POWELL-PEPPER will wear a Port Adelaide guernsey in 2016 after being taken at pick No. 18.

The medium midfielder - an Aboriginal man from Western Australian club East Perth - was the Power's second pick after taking Todd Marshall at pick No. 16.

The 18-year-old also played for Perth school Wesley College.

At 187 cm and 90 kg, Powell-Pepper's strong body and strong endurance base has been likened to Dustin Martin by AFL talent scouts, but its his pedigree in footy that will excite Power fans.

Playing for the Royals in the WAFL, he averaged 22 touches playing in the West Australian state league's colts grade, before making a debut for the seniors late in the year.

There he played five league games, including East Perth's loss to Peel Thunder in an elimination final.
