The Port Adelaide Football Club and MG Motor have agreed to terms on an elevated partnership over the next three years, further uniting Australia’s fastest-growing automotive brand and the country’s most storied club across the AFL, the AFLW and the SANFL competitions.

The elevated partnership was announced by Port Adelaide chairman David Koch at tonight’s prestigious John Cahill Medal in front of more than 750 attendees at the Adelaide Convention Centre.

Alongside its continued support of the Port Adelaide AFL side, the club was honoured to announce MG Motor as the joint major partner of the club’s recently announced AFLW team for Season 7, commencing December 2022.

MG Motor will also become the primary sponsor of the club’s SANFL team, with the company’s logo set to proudly sit on the front of the club’s iconic black-and-white Prison Bar guernsey.

Port Adelaide chairman David Koch thanked MG for their continued support.

“MG Motor is an established automotive company with a rich history in Australia and Port Adelaide is delighted the partnership will continue well into the future,” Mr Koch said.

“MG Motor joined us only weeks before the global pandemic struck in March last year, yet they’ve been unwavering in their support despite the ongoing challenges presented by COVID-19.

“We thank MG for their ongoing commitment to the club. To have such a reputable brand partner with our club fills us with great confidence. MG Motor continue to go from strength to strength cementing its place as a top ten automotive company in the fiercely competitive local market.

“Both Port Adelaide and MG Motor are on exciting growth journeys with our club enjoying record membership growth and MG’s sales at an all-time high here in Australia. We look forward to partnering with MG as they become major players in the electric vehicle market.

“We are very proud to have their famous logo on the front of all our club guernseys, including the inaugural major partner of our AFLW team.”

MG Motor Australia and New Zealand Peter Ciao shared Mr Koch’s excitement for the partnership extension.

“The heart and soul of the Port Adelaide Football Club is just one of the many reasons MG Motor Australia has chosen to extend its partnership,” said Mr Ciao.

“We have already forged many friendships at the club, and we will forge many more with the move into the AFLW competition. We are honoured to stand beside Port Adelaide and we look very much forward to the next chapter.”
