PORT ADELAIDE supporters will get their first opportunity to see the club’s SANFL side in action when it takes to the field in a pre-season trial game against reigning premier Woodville-West Torrens on Saturday morning.

The game against the Eagles will take place at Alberton Oval from 10am with free entry for spectators.

The Magpies will have a relatively new look with a number of new faces to the club both on the AFL and SANFL contracted list.

The game will be the first chance for coach Matthew Lokan to see how his side gels following the arrival of several new faces including the SANFL experienced Anthony Wilson and Brayden Kirk.

Former AFL rookie Trent Burgoyne has also returned to the club as part of the SANFL list and will line up against the Eagles - coincidentally the club he was drafted from.

The Eagles have also lost some key pieces of their side with Magarey Medalist James Tsitas and premiership players Tyson Stengle and Jack Hayes each moving to AFL clubs and Angus Poole, Patrick Giuffreda and Jake Von Bertouch each retiring.

Those attending Saturday’s game will only be able to enter through the Russell Ebert gate on Queen Street and are reminded to scan in using the QR code on the gate.

Patrons will not be allowed access to the field of play during the breaks or until players have left the field at the end of the game.

The Port Club will be open from 8:30am for coffee and drinks as well as limited food offerings and some catering will be available on the concourse area.

The Port Store will have all of your Port Adelaide merchandise needs covered with doors opening at 10am.

It is recommended masks be worn in situations where physical distancing is not possible.

Saturday morning’s game will form part of a double-header of sorts with the club’s AFL side to face rival Adelaide in a pre-season Showdown as part of the AAMI Community Series from 3:40pm.

That game will be at a sold-out Richmond Oval and broadcast live on Kayo.
