BROWNLOW MEDALLIST Ollie Wines headlines a list of players in the mix for selection for Port Adelaide’s Anzac Round game against West Coast.

The club vice-captain has been sidelined since a spontaneous heart irregularity emerged. The issue has since resolved itself and Wines has been cleared to play in a welcome boost for his side as it chases its first win of the season.

Defenders Martin Frederick and Lachie Jones are each available after a stint in isolation under health and safety protocols, while wingman Xavier Duursma will also come into consideration after two weeks on the sidelines with bruising to his neck and shoulder.

There were also some impressive performances in the SANFL, including by stand-in captain Kane Farrell in his second game back following knee reconstruction. Farrell had 19 disposals, six tackles, two clearances and a goal in Port Adelaide’s narrow loss to Norwood last Friday night.

Dylan Williams was particularly threatening in the forward line in that game. He booted 3.3 from 13 disposals and had a team-high seven marks. He was an emergency for the Carlton game and he continues to seek his second AFL game.

Fellow forward Ollie Lord had some big moments, splitting his time between the forward line and ruck and finishing with a goal, 14 disposals, eight tackles, four marks and four clearances. He also had eight hit-outs.

Defenders Jake Pasini (18 disposals, six marks), Sam Skinner (12 disposals, five) and Jase Burgoyne (20 disposals, five tackles and a goal) were also among the side’s best.

Saturday’s Anzac Round squad to face the Eagles will be announced on Thursday evening.

Port Adelaide will be celebrating its deep links with the defence force at the game, with an Anzac ceremony honouring those that have served to be held before the first bounce.

The playing group will also be sporting special Anzac Round guernseys, inspired by club legend and national war hero, Bob Quinn. The match-worn guernseys will be auctioned post-game with all proceeds going towards the RSL’s ANZAC Appeal.

Those wishing to support the ANZAC Appeal can also do so by online donation at anzacappeal.com.au.
