PORT Adelaide will host back-to-back ANZAC tribute games at the Adelaide Oval in 2015 to pay respect to the service of men and women, past and present, on the centenary of the landing at Gallipoli.

Port Adelaide will host Norwood in the traditional SANFL ANZAC Round grand final re-match under lights on Friday 24 April at 7.10pm

The following night, the club clashes with AFL premier Hawthorn on ANZAC Day night.

Port Adelaide chief executive Keith Thomas said the club was delighted to host the SANFL Grand Final re-match against reigning premiers Norwood on the eve of ANZAC Day.

“The SANFL scheduled the traditional grand final re-match at Adelaide Oval on the night before ANZAC Day and approached us to host the game,” Mr Thomas said.

“With Norwood’s approval we were delighted to accept the right to host such an important game on the SANFL calendar.

"Together, these two great foundation clubs of the SANFL will make this most significant event a truly memorable occasion.”

“It will be a wonderful and rare opportunity for Port Adelaide members and supporters to honour our servicemen and women on two occasions across the weekend.

“On ANZAC Day eve, our community can pay their respects and witness the grand final re-match against our traditional rival Norwood and then the following night we can unite again to do it on the national stage when we host AFL premiers Hawthorn on ANZAC Day night.

“Both nights will be a memorable commemoration of the centenary of the landing at Gallipoli and it allows Port Adelaide to honour its deep connection with the RSL and its history of ex-service men who played for and served in other roles at the club.

“Having the right to host Norwood in this ANZAC Round game at Adelaide Oval will mean we play one less game at Alberton in 2015, but all Port Adelaide SANFL member entry benefits will apply as they would in any home game at Alberton.”
