THE Port Adelaide Football Club is saddened to learn of the passing of former player Brett Higgins earlier this month.

Higgins played 22 SANFL games across the 1997 and 1998 seasons, booting 12 goals.

He was also awarded Port Adelaide’s Best First Year Player for the 1997 season.

Previously drafted by Adelaide with pick 50 in the 1994 national draft without breaking through at AFL level, Higgins also played for Glenelg in 34 games between 1999 and 2003.

Higgins died on Feb 6 at the age of 45.

The Port Adelaide Football Club extends its sincere condolences to Higgins’ four children, his extended family, friends and former clubmates.
