Port Adelaide confirms former club captain Tom Jonas has been elected to the club’s Board of Directors for a three-year term.

Jonas was the successful candidate in the Director election, with more than 5,000 club members casting their vote ahead of the club’s Annual General Meeting this Thursday evening.

Drafted to the club in 2011, Jonas played 216 AFL games across 12 seasons, including four years and 95 games as captain. Wearing the iconic number one guernsey, he became widely respected for his leadership, professionalism and commitment both on and off the field.

During his playing career, Jonas also served as a club delegate and board member with the AFL Players Association and established a successful small business, Hey Diddle Wines.

Holding a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Adelaide, Jonas combines formal education with more than 15 years of experience in elite sport and leadership within high-performance environments, bringing a unique perspective and skill set to the club’s Board of Directors.

Since retiring from AFL football at the end of the 2023 season, Jonas has remained closely connected to the club, contributing to a player wellbeing initiative that supports athletes in gaining work experience outside of football, and undertaking a role within the club’s commercial team.

Jonas will formally commence his term following the conclusion of the Annual General Meeting on Thursday, 26 February at the Port Club.
