New SANFL coach and captain duo Jacob Surjan and Jez McLennan will lead their side for the first time this Saturday as Port Adelaide hosts Glenelg at Alberton Oval.
An array of fresh faces has been named in the side including former North Adelaide forward Harrison Elbrow, talented teenager Dakota Sterzl, and speedy mid-forward Terrel Rigney.
Familiar favourites Jake Weidemann, Nick Moore and Rome Burgoyne return to the lineup, while experienced AFL players Brandon Zerk-Thatcher and Ollie Lord will feature at either end of the ground.
AFL-listed players named on the extended bench for Sunday’s game against West Coast that aren’t required will be allowed to feature in the SANFL side on Saturday.
It will be a tough test against last year’s grand finalists, however the Magpies can take some confidence into Round 1 after two pre-season wins.
Saturday’s game begins at 4:10pm at Alberton Oval, with gates opening a 11am for an under 18s curtain-raiser between South Adelaide and North Adelaide. Tickets are available at the gate and the Alberton Oval membership counter, while the Port Club is open for bookings.
