Port Adelaide defender Kane Farrell will be tested ahead of this Saturday's game against St Kilda.

Farrell has been managing a groin concern over the past month but has made positive progress in his rehabilitation.

Forward Sam Powell-Pepper will enter into an intensive training block to prepare himself for a confident return to football.

Powell-Pepper has done everything possible to get himself in excellent physical shape throughout his knee rehabilitation, and now needs to focus his energy further toward his mental preparedness.

After rupturing two ACLs in two seasons, the club will allow the 28-year-old to return to play in his own time.

"Sam has done a power of work on his body and mind over the past 12 months," Port Adelaide GM of Football Ben Rutten said.

"After two serious injuries in close succession, sometimes it can take a bit more time to feel completely ready to return.

"We will continue supporting Sam with whatever he needs, so he can enjoy his footy again, and feel really confident.

"Sam is a very important part of our club, and will continue training and supporting the group off-field as much he is able over the next few weeks ."

Port Adelaide will name its final team for Saturday's game on Thursday at 5:50pm.
