Port Adelaide acting captain Zak Butters will undergo surgery this week for a syndesmosis injury, while Mitch Georgiades is in concussion protocols.

Both players will miss this weekend's clash with Fremantle, with Butters' return timeline to become clearer following the surgical repair.

Butters syndesmosis confirmed, Jones cleared of serious injury

Jack Lukosius will be sidelined this weekend as he continues managing a baker's cyst issue at the back of his knee, while Lachie Jones will be assessed after a heavy knock to the ribs in Saturday's game.

Forward Tom Cochrane will also be a test after sitting out Sunday's SANFL game with hamstring tightness.

Port Adelaide will name its team for Saturday's home game on Thursday at 5:50pm.
