Yartapuulti forward Indy Tahau has sustained a right knee injury late in the third quarter of the side’s Round 3 clash against the Giants in Canberra.
The 23-year-old was assisted from the ground and took no further part in the game.
Tahau will undergo scans in the coming days to determine the full extent of the injury.
Senior coach Glenn Strachan provided an update following the game, praising Tahau’s team-first approach despite the setback.
“The initial diagnosis isn’t looking great for Indy, unfortunately, but we’ll get a scan in the coming days to understand the full extent of the injury,” Strachan said.
“After the game, her first thought was about her teammates and how they were following the win, which is an absolute testament to her character and team-first attitude.
“I’m extremely proud of Indy and the way she’s handled what is obviously a difficult situation for her right now.
“Her focus was immediately on the team and celebrating the win with her teammates, which says a lot about the person she is.”
Yartapuulti will provide a full injury update on Tuesday.
