Will Lorenz has won the A.R. McLean Medal as Port Adelaide’s best and fairest player in the SANFL in 2026. 

Lorenz finished Tuesday evening’s count with 53 votes, while midfielder Will Brodie came in second with 47 votes, and Magpies captain Jez McLennan was third with 42. 

Players could earn a minimum of zero and maximum of 10 votes per game, with a rating out of five given from both head coach Jacob Surjan and a second coach (line coaches for AFL-listed players and a Magpies’ assistant for SANFL-contracted players). 

In his third year at Alberton, Lorenz played 14 games, averaging 26.8 disposals, 6.6 marks and 3.1 clearances. 

The 21-year-old shifted from the midfield to the backline mid-way through the season and was able to grow his game while playing a different role.

“It's definitely been a challenging year, one of the most challenging I've had,” Lorenz said upon receiving his award.

“I think I've learnt, being around the mark the last couple of years, you see what other people do and learn off that. (This year) I've just wanted to be a leader in that space and help others along the way. It's a position where I can lend a hand.”

Lorenz went on to thank his teammates, his family and his partner Holly for his outstanding year at SANFL level.

Brodie was awarded the Max Porter Memorial Trophy as the runner-up best and fairest player after being traded from Fremantle ahead of the 2026 season. 

The 28-year-old averaged 24.3 disposals, 6.1 clearances and 5.1 tackles from 14 games. 

Along with his third place accolade, skipper McLennan claimed the Anthony Williams Memorial Award for the best SANFL-contracted player, while long-time volunteer John Settre earned the Bob Clayton Memorial Award for his hard work at the club.
