Port Adelaide midfielder Ash Woodland has committed her future to the club, signing a three-year contract extension that will keep her at Alberton until the end of the 2029 AFLW season.

Woodland joined the Power as a priority signing ahead of the 2023 season, bringing with her an impressive record that included an AFLW premiership, All-Australian selection and the league's leading goalkicker award with Adelaide in 2022. 

Since arriving at Port Adelaide, the 28-year-old has transitioned into a prominent midfield role, establishing herself as one of the side’s most consistent and versatile players.

Not going anywhere: Woodland commits for the long haul

Superstar Ash Woodland will remain in the black, white and teal until at least the end of 2029.

Woodland enjoyed a career-best 2025 campaign, finishing runner-up in the club's Best and Fairest after placing third the previous season and earning a place in the leadership group in 2024. 

She has continued to make an impact in 2026, averaging 17.2 disposals, 10.8 kicks, 6.3 handballs, 5.7 tackles and 5.2 clearances per game. 

Woodland said she was excited to continue her career at Alberton and play a role in the club's ongoing development.

“I'm really excited to be staying at Port Adelaide for another three years,” Woodland said. 

“I've loved my time here so far and I feel like I've really grown as a player since coming to the club, particularly with the opportunity I've had to spend more time in the midfield. 

“There's a really strong group here and I believe in what we're building under Glenn. I want to be part of that and help the team continue to improve and achieve what we know we're capable of. 

“Port Adelaide feels like home now, and I'm really looking forward to seeing what the next few years bring.” 

Head of AFLW Dan Merrett said Woodland's versatility and consistency had made her an important part of Port Adelaide's midfield. 

“Ash has become an integral part of our team since joining Port Adelaide, and we're really pleased to have her committed through to the end of 2029,” Merrett said. 

“Her ability to impact the game in a number of different ways is a real strength. She's developed her midfield craft significantly since arriving at the club and has shown that she can influence games both around stoppage, up forward, and around the ground.

Woodland’s extension follows a four-year deal for Ella Heads, a three-year extensions for Matilda Scholz and Shineah Goody, and one-year extensions for Maria Moloney, Cheyenne Hammond and Ebony O’Dea, as Port Adelaide continues to secure the core of its playing list for the coming seasons.
