PORT Adelaide has snapped its four-game losing streak and claimed another Showdown win with a 14-point victory over Adelaide on Saturday night.

In a high-pressure contest at Alberton Oval, the Power proved too good to claim a 5.6 (36) to 2.10 (22) victory.

The important win saw the Power improve to 3-5, the same record as the Crows as both look to make a late charge towards finals.

Abbey Dowrick (24 disposals, 22 contested possessions, 11 clearances, eight tackles and a goal) starred to win the Showdown Medal for the second straight year.

Ash Woodland also played an important role with 20 disposals, eight tackles, six clearances and a major.

The Crows had their chances – they had 12 more inside 50s – but their struggles connecting going forward, and failure to convert, proved costly.

Ebony Marinoff (14 disposals and 15 tackles) was well limited by Port but worked tirelessly, with Niamh Kelly (21 disposals and seven clearances) leading the way for the Crows.

Dowrick kicked the only goal of the opening term with a brilliant snap after pouncing on a loose ball inside 50 as she found some space in an otherwise high-pressure start.

The Power stretched their lead in the second quarter thanks to a Woodland goal following a downfield free kick against Eloise Jones, and Gemma Houghton's superb finish from a tough angle.

When Lauren Young snapped truly after good Port pressure inside 50 and Shineah Goody kicked a brilliant banana, the Power were out to a 28-point lead.

The inaccurate Crows landed their first goal with six minutes remaining in the game through Teah Charlton and another via Caitlin Gould as they made a late push, but it was too little, too late.

Up next
The Power will be back at Alberton Oval on Saturday as they aim for back-to-back wins when they host West Coast, while the Crows are on the road to take on Richmond at Ikon Park on Saturday night.
