Zak Butters will depart Port Adelaide after eight seasons, having committed to the Western Bulldogs as a restricted free agent.

Port Adelaide has accepted compensation pick No.5 ahead of next month’s Telstra AFL National Draft.

Selected with pick No.12 in the 2018 National Draft from the Western Jets, Butters debuted in Round 1, 2019 against Melbourne at the MCG. The 26-year-old leaves having played 156 games and kicked 73 goals for the Power.

Port Adelaide list manager Jason Cripps thanked Butters for his contribution to the club.

“Zak has been a significant part of our club since 2019 and we thank him for everything he has given to Port Adelaide,” Cripps said.

“We respect Zak’s decision and wish him well for the next chapter of his career.”
