THE Port Adelaide Football Club is saddened by the passing of former player John Dennis Thompson.

The 87-year-old played eight games in the side which won the 1951 Premiership, although he didn’t play in the Grand Final.

In all, he played 17 league games between 1948 and 1951 while also featuring as vice-captain of the 1952 reserves Premiership side.

A loyal and active supporter until his death and a long-term member, John Dennis Thompson passed away on Tuesday 22 October.

His loss will be felt by all at Port Adelaide, including his former club mates.
