Sam Gray has a very handy left foot

Sam Gray produced a brilliant mid/forward performance in Friday night’s 16-point win against North Melbourne at Adelaide Oval.

Gray booted four goals against North - the third time he has accomplished that feat against the Kangaroos - with the first three coming courtesy of left-foot snaps.

The 27-year-old kicked the opening goal of the game and had three by half-time, before kicking his fourth to put Port Adelaide 40 points up early in the last term.

Gray finished with 28 disposals, five tackles and three marks to go with his four goals.

Boak continues red-hot season 2019 form

Travis Boak was named best-on-ground against the Roos on Friday night, earning him the third Peter Badcoe VC Medal of his career.

Boak finished on 18 out of a possible 18 votes, with Sam Gray and North’s Ben Cunnigton both finishing on seven.

The former skipper collected 38 touches (15 contested), 11 clearances and nine inside 50s to continue is fine form to start the season.

It is the fifth time in the opening six rounds the 30-year-old has had more than 30 possessions for the game.

The 2018 draft crop continues to have an impact

Connor Rozee and Xavier Duursma were named in Port’s best against the Roos, while Zak Butters had an impact despite being a little quieter than usual.

Rozee kicked 1.2 from his 22 disposals and set up two goals, while Duursma had 24 touches and a goal, providing plenty of link-up play on the wing.

Butters had 13 possessions, four tackles and four inside 50s, and set-up Rozee’s major in a memorable bit of play in the third quarter.

Houston can take a hanger

Dan Houston provided the aerial highlight of Friday night’s ANZAC Round clash against North Melbourne.

Houston used Kayne Turner as a step ladder midway through the third quarter to bring down a classic grab.

The rebounding defender was once again one of the Power’s best, finishing with 21 touches, four rebound 50s and three marks.
