AFL Academy members Taj Schofield, Riley Thilthorpe, Zac Dumesny and Henry Smith (L-R) take in some advice from Brad Ebert and Geoff Morris.

THOSE who managed to get to Alberton for Port Adelaide’s open training session on Wednesday might have come across a few unfamiliar faces in the form of five train-on players from the AFL Academy’s SA Hub.

Among the group are two players who are familiar with Alberton Oval as part of the club’s Next Generation Academy – Taj Schofield and Lachie Jones.

Schofield, the son of 2004 Premiership player and midfield coach Jarrad Schofield, and Jones, a big bodied 185cm defender, were joined by their Woodville-West Torrens teammate Henry Smith who stands at 203cm and plays in the ruck.

South Adelaide defender Zac Dumesny and West Adelaide key position player Riley Thilthorpe are also spending the week training with the Power.

The teenagers are part of the AFL Academy’s SA Hub which will represent the state at the Under 18 AFL National Championships in June and July.

They’ll begin their campaign with a trial match against Western Australia in April.
