BOYD WOODCOCK and Cam Sutcliffe visited their former primary school as part of the club’s annual regional day.

Here are the best bits from their visit to Kadina Primary:

Woodcock on returning to his old school:

“I haven’t been back here in a while.

“It’s a really great experience seeing some of my old teachers and everyone out here.

“Obviously, I have a lot of family still here that I’m still close with, so it’s good to be back.

“Suttsy (Cam Sutcliffe) keeps talking about the statue he’s got by the oval.

Woodcock reminiscing on when Port Adelaide and Adelaide visited Kadina when he was a kid:

“I remember back when I was a kid and Port and the Crows came out here and did the little clinics, I used to love it and absolutely froth over it.

"For them it’s something different, especially being an hour and a half, two hours from the city, they don’t get to experience it as much as most of the kids in the city do.

“It’s really good for everyone in the team to be able to come out, have a look around and enjoy the day.

Woodcock on the experience of regional day:

“It’s a really good experience for everyone.

“I think a lot of the boys are country boys. It’s a day we get to go out as a team, and I think we see something like 30 schools and talk to about 7000 kids.

“It’s a really good experience and allows the community to experience it all as well.

Sutcliffe on Port’s regional day:

“We are here today at Kadina Primary School where we are out for our annual regional day.

“We are getting to 33 schools today which will involve over 7000 students. It’s great for Port and great for the community.

“We will see some kids and run a few clinics.

Sutcliffe on returning to his old school:

“I would’ve never got this opportunity if I was still at Fremantle.

“To be drafted by Port Adelaide and get the opportunity to come home and get involved at my junior school is a really good opportunity for myself and Boyd (Woodcock).

“There are a few teachers who taught us when we were here, so to catch up with them has been great.

Sutcliffe on the importance of the club’s Community Youth Programs:

“It’s really special for the club to put this sort of stuff on.

“These students might not get the opportunities that the metro kids do. I know throughout the year we run CYP (Community Youth Programs), so for them to get the opportunity to see Connor Rozee is pretty special.

“They want to try and emulate what we do on the field a little bit, so just to come down might give them a bit of hope that their dreams can come true as well.

“Clearly it’s really important for CYP to be running.

“Russell Ebert and Will Northeast do a really good job, and being a part of it last year gives you an understanding of how much the kids actually do get out of it.

“Whether it’s being active or the healthy lifestyle, it’s really important for kids to learn these things at a young age, so they can do that throughout their years.
