Dan Houston feels the effects of Will Hayes heavy tackle in Whyalla.

WESTERN Bulldogs wingman Will Hayes is facing a suspension after being charged over an incident in his side’s loss to Port Adelaide on Saturday.

Hayes can accept a one-match ban after the Match Review Officer, Michael Christian, charged him with rough conduct for his sling-style tackle on the Port’s Dan Houston during the first quarter of the Power’s 10-point win at Whyalla’s Bennett Oval.

The emerging midfielder had his arms pinned and was driven into the ground but was able to play out the first half before being rested in the second half as his side came from behind to win the game late.

The tackle incident was assessed as careless conduct with medium impact and high contact.

Hayes can accept a one-match ban with an early plea, meaning he would miss his side’s opening match of the season against Collingwood on Friday 20 March.
