Port Adelaide defender Ryan Burton came off the ground at three-quarter-time against the Crows to manage a sore knee.

PORT ADELAIDE’s medical staff will monitor Ryan Burton this week after the defender sprained his knee in Saturday night’s Showdown win over Adelaide.

Burton came off at three-quarter-time experiencing soreness and will be assessed prior to selection being finalised for next Sunday’s Round 3 match against Fremantle.

The 23-year-old is the only injury concern out of the weekend’s 75-point win.

Ruckman Scott Lycett, who was also rested in the closing stages of the Showdown, has shown no ill-effects of the hamstring strain that meant he had to prove his fitness last week.

Young forward Mitch Georgiades, who sat out both the Showdown and the earlier scratch match against the Crows because of a minor calf complaint, will resume full training this week.

Rookie Trent Burgoyne has been added to the injury list after developing a leg infection late last week that kept him sidelined on Saturday.

Port Adelaide will name its side to face Fremantle on Thursday evening.

Injury list

Ryan Burton – knee (assess)

Trent Burgoyne – leg (2-3 weeks)

Willem Drew – foot (5-7 weeks)

Tobin Cox – quad (1-2 weeks)
