TWO dominant quarters have helped Woodville-West Torrens to a 35 point win over an inaccurate Port Adelaide Academy side.

The inexperienced Port Adelaide challenged the second-placed Eagles in the third term to trail by just four points at the main break.

But a six-goal-to-none second and six-to-one fourth term handed the home side a 34-point win.

A hard-running Magpies outfit kicked with the breeze in the opening term and more than doubled the Eagles' shots on goal (8-3).

But Port Adelaide ?was not to able to capitalise on its opportunities inside 50, only managing to be eight points in front at the first break.

The Eagles took control of the second term as the Magpies continued to be hampered by inaccuracy in front of goals, helping the home side to a 24-point lead at the main break.

Danny Butcher, Brad Coulson and youngster Ben Sawford worked hard in the middle to clear the ball for the visitors, but lacked poise at times under pressure.

It was a much stronger performance from Port Adelaide in the third term, as it heightened its defensive pressure through the likes of Aseri Raikiwasa and Tom Corcoran.

They were helped by run through the middle from Tom Gray and Ben Sawford, and the margin was pegged back to four points at the final change.

The visitors continued to work hard but were unrewarded for their efforts, succumbing to the pressure of the more experienced Eagles to slide to their third loss of the year.
