PORT ADELAIDE hosts North Melbourne on Friday night at Adelaide Oval in a big ANZAC Round clash.

Port bounced back after losing its previous two games with an impressive 42-point win against last year’s premiers West Coast at Optus Stadium.

Meanwhile, North Melbourne suffered a disappointing 58-point loss to Essendon on Good Friday and will be looking to make amends on Friday night.

The last time the two sides met was in Round 6 last year at Marvel Stadium, with Port running out 33-point victors.

Sam Gray was brilliant up forward with four goals, while now-Kangaroo Jared Polec had a game-high 34 disposals.

Tom Jonas played a telling defensive role on North spearhead Ben Brown, minimising his impact when the game was on the line.

Ben Cunnington was the best for the Roos with 27 disposals (18 contested), while former Power player Ben Jacobs was good with 23 touches.

Ken Hinkley’s men have had the wood over North in recent times, winning four of the last five encounters between the two sides.

However, the Kangaroos hold a 21-12 head-to-head record in the clubs’ history.

Friday night’s clash will be the first time Jared Polec and Jasper Pittard face their former side in an AFL match.

This is the 16th consecutive season Port Adelaide has hosted an ANZAC Round clash, with it being the club’s number one fixture request from the AFL.

There are a number of fantastic initiatives in place prior to the first bounce at 7.20pm.

A curtain-raiser between the Australian Defence Force and the Emergency Services, will be followed by an ANZAC tribute and Army Band performance and then the ANZAC observance ceremony.

Gates open at 4pm.
